HPMC, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and titanium dioxide.

Why is the capsule shell opaque?

Titanium dioxide is used in Haro Clear’s capsule shell, giving it its white, opaque finish. That opacity has a practical purpose: opaque capsule shells can help shield light-sensitive ingredients from light. You’ll find it under Other ingredients on our label, separate from the nine ingredients in our eye-nutrition formula.

A familiar ingredient, a different job: Next time you enjoy your favorite cinnamon bun, take a peek at the icing ingredients—some cinnamon-bun icings use titanium dioxide for that bright white finish. It also adds color to some candies and other baked goods. Recipes vary, so check the current label of your favorite treat.

Taking your capsule

Take one capsule in the morning and one in the evening, with meals. If swallowing a capsule is difficult, gently pull the two halves apart and mix all of the powder into a smoothie, water or another drink. Drink the full serving right away.

Before you start

Talk to your doctor before use, especially if you have a medical condition, take medication, are pregnant or are breastfeeding.

Storage: Keep capsules sealed in their pouch or bottle in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

Haro Clear ingredient questions

Understand the label, daily amounts and how the formula relates to ingredient research.

What ingredients are in Haro Health’s Haro Clear?

Haro Clear contains nine formula ingredients: vitamin C, zinc, L-lysine, hesperidin, grape seed extract, bromelain, papain, lutein and zeaxanthin. The fruit enzymes are bromelain and papain; lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids. The table above shows each amount, while the Other ingredients section identifies the capsule-shell and supporting ingredients separately.

Why does the label say one capsule when the daily routine is two?

The Supplement Facts panel uses a serving size of one capsule. The directions recommend two capsules per day, taken as one with a morning meal and one with an evening meal. Daily amounts are therefore twice the per-capsule amounts. Use the selector above to compare both views; the original Supplement Facts panel remains available beside the page introduction.

How much bromelain and papain does Haro Clear contain?

One capsule contains 300 mg bromelain and 150 mg papain. Two capsules provide 600 mg bromelain and 300 mg papain per day. The label also lists enzyme activity specifications: 2,400 GDU/g for bromelain and 2,000 USP U/mg for papain. Milligrams describe the amount of ingredient; the activity specifications describe enzyme activity using different measurement methods.

How much lutein and zeaxanthin are in the daily amount?

Haro Clear provides 2 mg lutein and 2 mg zeaxanthin in each capsule, or 4 mg of each in the recommended two-capsule daily amount. Both are listed as marigold extracts. These amounts identify what is in the formula; they do not establish the same outcomes as a study that used different doses or a different combination of ingredients.

Is Haro Clear an AREDS2 formula?

No. Haro Clear has a different ingredient combination and different daily amounts from the AREDS2 formula. AREDS2 research concerns particular stages of age-related macular degeneration; sharing lutein and zeaxanthin does not make another supplement equivalent. If your eye-care professional recommends AREDS2, discuss your supplement routine with them rather than substituting Haro Clear for that recommendation.

What are the capsule and other ingredients made from?

The listed other ingredients are HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and titanium dioxide in the capsule shell. HPMC is the material used for the vegetarian capsule. These ingredients are disclosed separately from the nine formula ingredients and their amounts. Review the current label and discuss any ingredient sensitivities with your healthcare professional.

How long does a 90-capsule refill pouch last?

At the recommended two capsules per day, a 90-capsule pouch provides 45 days of use. The label’s 90 servings per container uses its one-capsule serving size; it does not mean 90 days at the recommended daily amount. A routine of one capsule with a morning meal and one with an evening meal uses two of those label servings each day.

Do ingredient studies prove that Haro Clear delivers the same results?

No. Research on an ingredient or a particular study formula does not by itself establish results for Haro Clear. The linked summaries explain the tested doses, combinations and participants so you can understand those differences. Use this page to check the Haro Clear formula and the study pages to read the evidence in its original context.

Why does Haro Clear contain titanium dioxide?

Titanium dioxide is used in Haro Clear’s capsule shell, giving it its white, opaque finish. That opacity has a practical purpose: opaque capsule shells can help shield light-sensitive ingredients from light. You’ll find it under Other ingredients on our label, separate from the nine ingredients in our eye-nutrition formula. Read the scientific review on titanium dioxide in capsule shells.

The name may sound unfamiliar, but its use goes beyond supplements: it is also used for color in some everyday foods, including candy, some powdered mini doughnuts and white cake-decorating icing. Next time you enjoy your favorite cinnamon bun, take a peek at the icing ingredients—some recipes use titanium dioxide for that bright white finish. H-E-B’s iced cinnamon rolls are one example; recipes vary by brand.

In the USA, the FDA permits titanium dioxide as a food color additive when its specifications and conditions of use are met. We include it on our label so you can see exactly what goes into your capsule and make an informed choice. Read the FDA’s explanation.
